New Modern Geometric Earrings

Hello! So happy to announce my newly designed modern geometric earrings!
The last few days I've really been getting into creating jewelry.
I really love working with wood, painting and staining and the new life a scrap can take on.
I've also been incorporating recycled pieces of plastic (we all know there is too much of that stuff floating around).

I've also fallen in love with the way this black coated stainless steel hardware looks in contrast with the colors and textures of the wood.
All of these are currently up for grabs in my Etsy Shop :

Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt

Hello! I am so proud to show my completed Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt.
I have recently fallen back in love with quilting after a year or so long break. I told myself I had to finish up other quilt top projects before I started anything new and this was first in line.
Here's a shot of my first four blocks I made back in February of 2017. I have learned to biggest part of sewing is learning to dedicate time to FINISHING your quilting projects. I like to practice that discipline because finishing a quilt is SO rewarding!
My first 16 blocks and about 1/4 of the quilt. I originally began this quilt to avoid my drinking routine in the evenings. I've been referring to this project as my "Sobriety Quilt" for years and even though I'm not currently sober, this was such a helpful, creative and productive time in my life.
I used a cute cactus print sheet for the backing. This was also the first quilt I did not machine quilt and rather used to old fashioned yarn tie method. I think the yarn ties really enhance the personality of this granny style thrift shop scrappy quilt.
This was a very improvisational quilt. I only allowed myself to use a handful of scraps from my bin per block. Whatever I chose, that's what I used. That is, hands down, my favorite way of sewing, I love to see what happens!
Well, there ya have it! I have a few more tops to finish up and I'm excited!
Thanks for checking out my latest quilt and hopefully I can complete tons this year!

13th Wedding Anniversary!

A little over a week ago, my husband & I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary!
We decided to have a small overnight "staycation" downtown Eau Claire in our favorite hotel The Lismore. It was especially exciting due to the blizzard hitting western Wisconsin, dumping more than 12 inches on the city.
We had a lovely corner room full of windows to relax and watch the storm. The wallpaper is really cool featuring vintage Australian newspaper ads from Lismore, Australia.
We walked a few blocks down to our favorite sushi restaurant Ninja and started our night with these delicious and refreshing Cucumber Saki Mojitos.
We continued the cucumber with these "Naruto Rolls" containing salmon, tuna, crab meat, avocado, wrapped in cucumber. So delightful and decadent.
We feasted on various rolls such as Phoenix, Volcano & Spicy Salmon, all top notch!
We spent the rest of the night drinking champagne in the ironically titled rooftop bar "The Dive" while admiring these commemorative artworks honoring local real dive bar "The Joynt"
Before retiring to our room, we listened to great music and watched cars get stuck in the snow, it was a romantic, memorable and and cozy night!
Surprisingly we even made it home the next day. By 11 am most of the roads were mostly clear and that snowfall gifted us an unbelievable 12 inches!
